Currently – The June Edition

Eclectic Outdoor Spaces from Daily Crush

I cannot believe it’s already June.  Maybe it’s the weather — we hopped from winter, to spring, to winter, to summer, to winter, to spring, and then BOOM!  June and consistent summer weather!  The weather around here has gotten intensely hot and crazy humid — apparently it’s about 10 degrees hotter than it was at this time last year.  But the fireflies are out and everything is in bloom, so I’m happy.  It feels like I’ve been permanently on the go since the beginning of May, but I have been exploring a few things …

Eating:  It’s summertime and that means my favorite marinated cucumbers are back!  My grandma and I made a batch last weekend and I’ve been snacking on them nonstop.  Give them a try and let me know what you think.

Hearing:  I finally got around listening to Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly.  It’s pretty funky.

Wanting:  The perfect petite t-shirt dress.  Right now I’ve got my eye on this one.  Any recommendations?

Drinking:  GT’s Enlightened Synergy Grape Chia!  My dad surprised me with a bottle to try last week and I am sold.  I know some people have an issue with the chia texture, but I think it’s fun!  Plus, since I’ve given up my daily Coke Zero (number 25 on my list of 52 Things in 52 Weeks) and now drink almost only water, I’m looking for a fun new drink to try every now and then.

Reading:  A friend of mine recently shared this article.  I particularly like the “bookend your day” advice.

Wearing:  This t-shirt from Banana Republic.  I lucked into a really good sale that made it reasonably affordable and I’m so glad I snagged it.  It’s perfectly baggy, without looking sloppy, and can be dressed up (a little) or down.

So tell me — what have you been digging lately?

  1. Lucy, can’t wait to try your cucumbers. I’ve seen a similar “pickling” recipe. Question: In that one it noted that they could only be kept 2 weeks – Likely they’ve never survived past a week in your house, but is that true here too?

As a replacement for your Coke Zero. I too gave up soda, but missed the bubbles -I’ve taken to Poland Springs black cherry seltzer – the essence is just enough to take the edge off of the seltzer for me and 0 sugar, 0 calories. Yum.

Enjoying your posts and if you want to send the summer weather, I could use it. NE is NOT getting the heat (probably jinxed it) but it’s been in the 50s last 2 days and on the Cape & Islands low 60s – despite main land/BOS at high 70s, 80s and 2x 90.

Old Navy also had some T-shirt dresses too.

    1. The cucumbers really have never survived for that long in my house! I imagine that the time frame for keeping them is similar though …

Thanks for the soda replacement tip! I’ll give the Poland Spring black cherry seltzer a try. 🙂

I’ll have to pop into Old Navy and take a look at their t-shirt dresses. That’s a good idea.

And yes, I’d be happy to send an extra 30 or so degrees your way if I could.

      1. Thanks. Not sure that they’ll make it that long in my house either!
Let me know what you think of the Black Cherry. Raspberry Lime isn’t bad either -sometimes I add that to a TJs Lime Pomegranate juice for a bubbly treat. (Lots of sugar in the juice but yumm!)
