Yoga Poses I’m Learning

I’m beginning to move further into my yoga practice lately — I guess that’s what happens when you practice regularly, right?  I’ve been exploring new poses, so here’s a peek at the ones I’m learning lately.  (I’m working my way through that pile of DVDs to find my favorite guided at-home practices in the bunch.)

Malasana / Garland Pose

This is a killer pose for your inner thighs and your belly!  Especially the variation shown second.

Prasarita Padottanasana / Wide-Legged Forward Bend
After years of wishing for it, I can finally get my head on the ground.

Salamba Sirsasana / Supported Headstand
Headstand variations have always fascinated me, so now I’m getting to work on a basic headstand.  Some days it happens — I’m up and it’s great and fun!  Some days, like this day, it doesn’t.  But I’m getting there and trying to work on some consistency.

Bakasana / Crane Pose
This is the pose for me this year.  I love everything about Crane.  Like headstands, arm balances are so interesting and, I won’t lie, I’m drawn to them because they look fancy.  I’m working on it.  Obviously this is more of a Crow, less of a Crane.

Ommmmmmmmmmm.
